Dev Partners resumes training for the month of August

Working from home is on its way to becoming permanent as more and more companies all over the world are embracing it as they prepare for the new normal.

At Dev Partners, it’s business as usual as most of our developers continue to work remotely. This has been the company’s practice since day 1. We give all our employees the flexible option to work from the comforts of their own home or at the office, if they prefer.

August signals the start of a new training for most of our Dev Partners developers. After a month-long break, Dev Partners has prepared a new set of training materials that our developers can participate in. This time, the focus is about learning the basics of DevOps.

The training includes learning the fundamentals of Docker, Version Control with GIT, learning the concept of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Deployment, understanding of DevOps flow, Jenkins, and more to mention.

Developers are also encouraged to participate in the Soft Skills training to improve individual’s personality development, communication, worth ethics, and leadership.

Our training involves providing video materials and manuals. Assessment will also be conducted once training is over.

As August for Dev Partners is the month of continuous improvement, winners of the 2nd quarter training rankings will also be declared.

Preventing work from home burnout

It's official! We are now in the age of remote work! Some people have been working from home pre-pandemic, so they find it easy and effortless. However, for those who just started to get acquainted with the setup, it is easy to feel a bit burned out. How then can you prevent burnout while working from home? Below are some simple tips.

1. Have your own personal workspace. Not having a proper office setup can be stressful, especially if you have a lot of work to do. Working while in your bed is not healthy either, as it won’t help with your productivity. It’s best to set up your own area and keep distractions at a minimum.

2. Strictly follow regular working hours. Anything beyond that can lead to exhaustion, unless otherwise necessary.

3. Take a break. According to recent studies, working from home is even more stressful than working in the office because you tend not to follow a routine. Work stuff and home stuff tend to get mixed up, leading to more confusion and burnout. To prevent this from happening, practice taking a routine break to keep your productivity levels up and your sanity together.

4. Schedule a time to cook or prepare a meal. It is much more expensive to order for deliveries daily when working from home and now is the best time to learn how to cook your own meal. But what if you are stuck up with a project till lunch and you don’t have time to cook? It’s best to practice cooking ahead (or even the night before) so you could just re-heat your food and focus more on work at hand.

5. Weekends are for the family. Even if you are with your family all the time at home, know that there are still boundaries that need to be set. Remember to focus on work during work hours, and after that, it should be all about family. During the weekend, make sure to just bond at home. Limit checking your emails or even your phone. This is very ideal in preventing future burnout.
